Amateur Radio at the Linux Picnic

Amateur Radio (a.k.a. Ham Radio) has been a part of the Linux Picnic since the first annual celebration at "Linux10" on Linux's 10th anniversary in 2001. The Hams have helped with dispatch of the picnic's transit shuttle and stood by to bring a response in case of emergency, since Hams anywhere in the park can be in instant contact with the picnic base station. They also demonstrate a technical hobby that is shared by many Silicon Valley geeks. Hams tend to like to talk so the Ham Radio station is a social spot as well.
