Hoping to Sponsor?

The open source world these days is made not only of people writing code but also helping in other ways - documentation, testing, sending gear to developers, etc. It's also got companies who have embraced the open source model and pour their energy and support into our community as a whole.
If you would like to help the Picnic in some way beyond direct volunteer work, please contact this year's Picnic Coordinator, Heather Stern of The South Bay Community Network. She can be reached on the volunteer mail list, via direct email on her
gmail account (
heather.starshine.stern), or possibly via internet chat (freenode IRC as
starshine or
editorgal, Yahoo IM
arachnesolara, Skype
arachnesolara, or via
LinkedIn).
Our thanks to these early bird sponsors:
-
- Google
- Silicon Valley Wireless Users and eXperimenters (SVWUX), a special interest group of The South Bay Community Network
What will be there?
|
Food. We're bringing hot dogs, burgers, some vegetarian options - and probably buns to have them in. There will be some open grill space for you to cook on, if you bring your own. Let us know which you prefer when you RSVP.
|
|
Power. We have the site we wanted so there will be juice for impromptu installfests, sharing across laptops, and generally plugging your project gear into standard wall power.
|
|
Drink. We will be bringing numerous sodas and drinkables. The South Bay Community Network is not providing any alcohol. Park rules require alcohol may only be brought in limited quantity with meals and consumed with meals.
|
Of these three, please
be kind to your fellow penguins - both in sharing, and in not taking what wasn't meant to be shared.
|
Projects. We are encouraging project teams to bring themselves, their gear, and their banners, and to get involved. If you're part of such a project and want to commit to coming, use the Sponsors contact info above. and Thanks!!
|
|
Wireless. SVWUX members will be setting up an active wireless link - probably more than one - at the park so we can all enjoy internet access. Sponsors for additional wireless access will be put in contact with SVWUX members volunteering for Wifi setup at the park.

Good Cheer!
Visiting from out of town?
|
Have a look at various tourist attractions in Silicon Valley while you're here. Those of you bringing families may especially enjoy The Tech, Intel's museum, the Computer History Museum, or a shopping trip to Fry's. We'll also have our shuttle volunteers able to take you to and back from the nearby WeirdStuff Warehouse.
