Linux Picnic Steering Committee
The Linux Picnic Steering Committee is the governing council of the annual Linux Picnic event, comprised of members of the community who make the picnic happen. The LPSC consists of up to 15 members as follows:
- up to 6 members elected from among the Linux Picnic membership (people who have volunteered at past picnics)
- up to 6 members representing Open Source Partner Organizations (OSPOs)
- up to 3 members appointed by the Board of Directors of The South Bay Community Network, the 501(c)3 non-profit umbrella corporation which the Linux Picnic is organized under
OSPO representatives limited to 6 voting seats
If the participating Open Source organizations send more than 6
representatives, the list of voting respresentatives on the steering
committee will have to be narrowed down to 6 by the remainder of the
steering committee. The Steering Commmittee can make a policy about
how to deal with that. One suggestion so far is that the picnic should make a
policy like this...
- all the Open Source Partner Organization representatives, even if not
selected for a voting seat, will be invited to and welcomed in the discussion
of the Steering Committee.
- selection of which organizations get the 6 voting seats should "take
turns" as best we can arrange it. So each year the organizations which
have been waiting longest for a turn in a voting seat should be given
highest favor in the selection of who gets a turn that year.
